gcc 2.3 bootstrap error

First time compiling gcc (lfs 4 - in $LFS/static) I get:

Bootstrap comparison failure!
and a number of files.

compiling without the bootstrap option gives unrecognized
symbol errors.
I'm running RH 8 as host distro, so I should have all the files needed. wondering wheather anyone ran into that.

Thanks in advance, NGraphiX

Need more information like the exact error with some context and the exact commands you have executed.

You should read Chapter 2 "How to ask for help".

I also suggest getting familiar with the LFS support options such as search engine, online mailinglist archives (searchable by the search engine) and mailinglists/newsgroups and of course the FAQ.
