Framebuffer issue

When I boot up my machine it boots in framebuffer mode vga=794, but the penguin logo stays at the top of the screen and I can't scroll up with less. Instead a line of text up from my position appears a line above Tux. Once I start and shutdown X the problem stops. How do I stop this? The problem only occurs in framebuffer mode. See siggy for system info.

I had a similar problem here.

Maybe something in there will help. I never really got a solution, since I haven't yet recompiled a kernel.

Anbody else?

I looked at your post and was wondering... How do I recompile my kernel with logo off and framebuffer on?

Why did you post that? I was asking everyone, not you in specific.

Oh.

Well, you did say "I looked at your post and was wondering..." (emphasis mine of course...) Not a big deal though.

Well, I don't remember the specific option and where it's located, but there is a framebuffer option to select in the kernel when using menuconfig or xconfig. I'd have to go back and check. But I'm sure you can find it by searching the menus, and following the kernel compilation instructions you originally used to build your Linux From Scratch system to start with.

If I compile only framebuffer support in without a driver than there's no console display. And whatever driver I use Tux is still obscuring my text!
