/etc/host.allow and deny

I was wondering as there is no info around the net regarding these files in a generic kind of way. The documentation that I can find says that daemons will use these files to authenticate hosts that are allowed to access the services remotely. Now is this behavior something that has to be implemented or is it generic and these files can be created on a LFS system without some major scripting or running something else?

It has to be implemented; "man tcpd" for examples. As to its applicability to LFS is concerned, I have no clue as I haven't ever studied LFS.

Hi,

You don't need to worry about this when you build LFS.

Once you start building BLFS (the goodies on top of LFS), the book will mention if and when you need to create these files.

Hope this helps.
