Error while compiling texinfo-6.1


While compiling texinfo in Section 5.32. i got the following error
Code:
TestXS.xs:4:20: fatal error: EXTERN.h: No such file or directory
 #include "EXTERN.h"
                    ^
compilation terminated.
Please let me know how should i proceed.

please post yoir version info and we need to see more than just error line, is this from make or configure, more information please

Sorry, I missed that. The error is from configure . The version is Texinfo-6.1.

The perl version in my system and the one i compiled weren't same. So had to degrade the version of perl and recompile it.

if you change the versions from the ones in the book you will run into problems later on, when i said post your version check i mean the output from the version.sh script
