Dealing with mount problems!

I just wanted to make sure whether I am starting it correctly or not.

1)I created a dir name lfs in mnt having ownership of my primary user(not root).

2)I then mounted a partition on /mnt/lfs

3)Now when I create the lfs user and try to get to $LFS/sources it gives me access denied. My lfs dir has following permissions. http://hastebin.com/zugosixoge.hs

Can anyone let me know what's wrong ? Is the permission of lfs wrong ? shall I change it to 755 ?

Hi

Follow the book, Chapters 2/3 are done as root, no one else

I would remove the lfs dir and start again
