creating the space.......

ok i understand that Im suppose to create a few partitions to build the lfs on my question is how do you create partitions on a drive from inside another distro? You cant run cfdisk while inside (fedora core three is what im using). I mean do you have to create these partitions before you install the host distro or is there a way to take some space away from a mounted partition?

I dont get it!
Im running on a full 80 gig seagate but the default fedora install uses all the extra space...Im guessing as a home partition.

There is a way. A program called parted (http://www.gnu.org/software/parted/) will do that for you. However you cannot change the sizes of mounted partitions, so you'll probably want to boot your machine with somekind of mini-distribution without hard drive partitions mounted. PAUD will do just fine: http://paud.sourceforge.net/.
