Create an Intall version CD of BLFS
Hi ppl
I am n00by in BLFS, so do not laugh ( much :D ) if my question is stoopid... Is it possible, after creating a customized linux Distro ( (B)LFS ) to create an installable version of it...? an iso to be burned into a CD or DVD...? BRGDS Alex |

To answer your question, yes, it is possible to do that. |
Hi crts :)
First, I would like to thank you for replying, :) Second, If I annoyed anybody, it was not my intent to do it, so, if i annoyed you, i am sorry for that, Third, If i write like this it is ment to be funny, not so serve as any form of characterization of my age or mental development status, in Japan we refer to this form of expression as kawaii, meaning cute, cool, funny, but by no means less repectfull or serious. BRGDS Alex EDIT: Well back to topic :) How does one make this, creating an installable BLFS...? |
Hey Alexvader
Now, huh I know nothing about BLFS... But, if you patch your kernel, etc for aufs, squashfs, lzma and use Linux Live Scripts on it it will create a distro from your installed system that runs just like Slax, with persistency, etc off cd/usb/hdd what kernel version does your BLFS install run?? I am currently compiling slack 12.2's 2.6.27.31 kernel and patching LinuxLiveScripts has premade 2.6.27.27 kernel too tell me what kernel your runinng EDIT: As for installing it you would need to "make" a install script/py,etc or modify someone elses like Vector's Lite Live Final, which is kinda made with LinuxLiveScritps but they added stuff Vector Lite Live lets you remaster your installed system |
Hi Linus72
I have not yet begun my adventures in (B)LFS, I am learning, watching forum, reading... as soon as i find courage, and time, to start creating a BLFS, i will tell you. About Slack I run the good'ol 2.6.29.6 in one machine and 2.6.32.7 in another...~ Is it really difficult to deploy/create a (B)LFS...? BRGDS Alex |
I heard it was pretty hard dude...BLFS,etc
I'm gettin ready to install SourceMage which is pretty hard too... since you run slack maybe practice on a 12.2/13 install with LinuxLiveScripts making a livecd/usb of your slack setup Thats how I made these http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Syste...SB-55041.shtml http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Syste...86-54962.shtml trying to make 13 with 13's kernel...those above use 2.6.27.27 from LLS |
Thx Linus72
I will practice w/ these before i delve into BLFS... And ppl, oops :D PEOPLE say Arch or Slackware are not user friendly... ROFL :D what do they know... ? BRGDS Alex |
yeah slack and arch rock dude
I got archbang and like 9 slack installs heres what I'm doin screenshot http://multidistro.com/distros/slack...d/makelive.png |
Yep... compiling a kernel... :)
Is there any net gain of performance in building a (B)LFS system, as comparing to optimized Lightweight distros like Slackware or Arch...? I am building this in Arch... https://computation.llnl.gov/casc/Overture/ and this http://www.dealii.org/ Those two will constitute a framework for the analysis of aeroelastic interations like flutter instability in aicraft http://www.sciencedirect.com/science...50fac216de08e2 I already compiled Overture with Intel compilers, I will build Dealii tomorrow... but i will still have do create the solvers... Those two packages only create classes and libraries for me to develop stuff... BRGDS Alex |
Damn dude thats intense aye?
check out this stuff too did you know lfs had livecd?? http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/livecd/ http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/alfs/ http://sites.google.com/site/myslaxcreator/ Quote:
slack and arch re very cool Your in Japan? Japanese chicks are Hot dude which I was there:banghead: |

hope all is well, mrmnemo |
Hi Mrnemo :)
Sorry for late answer... no... I am not more advanced ... at least not in terms of progression I am building up the knowledge and getting to know the quirks involved in building LFS... But for the time being I have been more involved w/ stuff at work... optimal layout of composite fiber orientation to maximize specific stiffness of a mechanical component... lots of FEA, CAD, redesign, reanalyze... Heavy numerics for the workstation... BRGDS Alex |
