Contents of Binutils, Book 4.1, Ch 5.8, missing .so files

In the 4.1 book, Chapter 5.8, Contents of Binutils, the book indicates:

"Library Files

libbfd.[a,so] and libopcodes.[a,so]"

I have no libbfd.so or libopcodes.so files on the new system. Is this just an oversight in the book? Aren't those .so files needed somewhere down the line?

I discovered that I have these files in my host system under /usr/lib, but not in my /LFS/static/lib directory.

Anybody else notice that?

I'm sure you're fine. *.so files are shared libraries. Since you are compiling and linking everything statically, there is no need to create shared library files... thus no .so files.

It's probably one of those insidious copy-and-paste oversights.
