CLFS and gcc 4.5.0 make -k check issue

I have searched fairly extensively on google and was wondering if anyone here had had any luck with a successful 'make -k check' of gcc 4.5.0 under a CLFS build on Pure-64?

I currently have errors on the following test files:
Quote:
gcc/testsuite/gcc.c-torture/compile/limits-structnest.c
libmudflap/testsuite/libmudflap.c/fail31-frag.c
libmudflap/testsuite/libmudflap.c/pass45-frag.c
libmudflap/testsuite/libmudflap.c++/pass28-frag.cxx
libmudflap/testsuite/libmudflap.c++/pass41-frag.cxx
libmudflap/testsuite/libmudflap.c++/pass55-frag.cxx
To successfully complete the check I have removed these files, so my question is two fold:
1. Has anyone been able to any / all of these tests?
2. Are there any implicit / explicit reasons why these tests should complete successfully? (ie will I be unable to perform certain compilations in the future that would require the same features being tested here)?

I am happy to include log file details and more specific information should anyone wish to delve a little further

cheers

Hi,

I haven't build clfs, just normal lfs. Nonetheless, you might want to take a look at chapter 6.16 of normal lfs
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/...ter06/gcc.html
It says there that the failing of the 'libmudflap' tests are probably resulting from a bug in gcc. So the answer to your first question is probably 'no'. I am aware that you are building gcc 4.5 and not gcc 4.4.3. However, I am not aware of any lfs version where all tests for gcc were passed, especially the ones mentioned.
So as for your second question, you probably won't have any trouble with future compilation.

I noticed that in the latest stable clfs 1.1.0 the gcc version is 4.2.4. Are you building a development version or did you deviate from the book? Deviating from the book is a more likely source for later trouble than failing the above mentioned tests. This is true for lfs and clfs as well, I suppose.

Hey crts

Thanks for the reply ... yes I am building the dev version of Pure 64 but also yes this is still deemed a deviation as they are not using 4.5.0 yet (weird
as it is already in lfs)

I have been particularly careful though and stopped whenever an issue has arisen and found appropriate solutions.
I did find a reference on the gcc bugsite to also say the first failure, ie gcc torture, is also a bug which chews up all available memory

Just thought I would ask to see if anyone else had any luck as I have paused on this for a little over a week trying to find different solutions.
I would mention that the first issue is only on certain optimization settings, but of course as it is a test it goes through ALL possible choices.

Thanks again, I will leave it open a little longer just in case
