ch 5 perl freakout!

my perl will not configure. its freaking out over "libncursesw.so.5" and i know i installed it.

there were some commands way before this that did not take so well. some commands would refuse to run. i used slocate to find libncursesw.so.5, but they are in /usr/lib/ /lib and a few other odd places. i know i installed ncurses.

i dont know, i think i messed up a bit earlier before i was really getting an idea of what was going on. does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

'channel 5 .... ?
Please edit 'Thread Title' to "LFS 6.4 chapter 5.28 perl 5.10"
if that is what you are doing :
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/...skforhelp.html

Except this forum being Linux From Scratch, the text indicates,
that you are doing something else. The ncurses, you want to use,
is hopefully in ..../tools//lib/ ?

Chapter 4 is important
Quote:
§ 4.1 . Do not forget to check that $LFS is set whenever you leave and reenter
the current working environment (as when doing a su to root or another user).
§ 4.2 . ln -sv $LFS/tools /
§ 4.3 .........
§ 4.4 . By putting /tools/bin ahead of the standard PATH, all the programs installed
in Chapter 5 are picked up by the shell immediately after their installation. This,
combined with turning off hashing, limits the risk that old programs are used from
the host when the same programs are available in the chapter 5 environment.
The good news : This is LFS, you can always start from scratch again,
may be ncurses should be recompiled. Perl 5.10.0 : usually no problems.
....

yes i realised that my LFS build was sabitoged from teh git go.

i made it to the end of the book =D

now my booting explodes with 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 so on so on so on. im going to recompile my kernel, and change my "export LANG" to "export LANG=en_US" and cross my fingers it boots.

99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 is usually just a LILO install failure.?
