cannot boot into my clfs


hi,
I am new to this forum. I am doing the CLFS project. i have completed the build and trying to boot into my new build CLFS OS.. But after booting into the INIT the kernel hangs.. showing a message
INIT : id 1: respawning too fast : disabling for 5 minutes
INIT : id 2: respawning too fast : disabling for 5 minutes
INIT : id 3: respawning too fast : disabling for 5 minutes
INIT : id 4: respawning too fast : disabling for 5 minutes
INIT : id 5: respawning too fast : disabling for 5 minutes
INIT : id 6: respawning too fast : disabling for 5 minutes
init no more processes left in this runlevel

my inittab files says the same as specified in the CLFS 1.1 book.

please help me out.. i am running out of ideas here...
