Booting LFS-7.0 (SVN) - Bash can't find libncursesw.so.5

Hello everybody.

I've build LFS before, and had no issues (I think it was LFS 6 I last built OK), but whenever I build LFS 7 I get this message on boot, no matter what I do:

/bin/bash: Error loading shared libraries: libncursesw.so.5: No such file or directory (copied from memory from the init messages)

A little info about my system; I'm using raid, and mdadm to boot it with the lfs-initramfs package from the only RAID hint I've found. The initramfs appears to be working, as init is quite happy that it has found my root device (/dev/md1) and appears to be finding the /bin folder where bash is located, hence how it generates this error.

libncursesw.so.5 is verified present in /lib. Both /lib and /bin are on the same device, as is /etc/ (where ld.so.conf is located), so my logic suggests if it can find the one, it should be able to find the other. ld.so.conf specifies /lib and /usr/lib as the paths for libraries.

I can chroot just fine from my host distro (Debian 6.0 live USB install) and work with the tools from there, and no problems seemed to occur when building LFS itself, or while trying to make it bootable.

I'm a little stumped. /bin/bash seems to work just fine within the chroot and ldd /bin/bash from the chroot happily locates /lib/libncursesw.so.5 in the right place, but it can't find it during the boot sequence (and panics about killing init). I've rebuilt bash again within the chroot to make sure I haven't missed any instructions from the book, and the same occurs.

LFS Version used: SVN-20111228
System: AMD Athlon II x2 250 4GB DDR3 RAM
Software RAID on /dev/sd{a,b,c,d}{0,1,2} using mdadm with initramfs and LVM2
- Root device /dev/md1 - /bin, /lib, /etc, et al
- /boot = /dev/md0
- /usr, /tmp, /var, /home - LVM from /dev/md2 (/dev/sd{a,b,c,d}2)
GRUB 1.99 as instructions require
- boot line:
linux /vmlinuz-3.1.6-lfs-<version> ro
initrd /initramfs-<filename>

Boots up to:

/bin/bash: Error loading shared libraries: libncursesw.so.5: No such file or directory

Does the same when boot line changed to
linux /vmlinuz-3.1.6-lfs-<version> rw init=/bin/bash

Having a kernel root=/dev/md1 option makes no difference.

Host system used: Debian Squeeze USB Live install

Works in chroot (/bin/bash --login)

Have you tried to run
Code:
ldconfig
as root to update the links and cache of the runtime-linker?
