Autofs-5.0.5 from BLFS Error

This is what I get when making Autofs in the BLFS book.

gcc -O2 -Wall -D_REENTRANT -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -I../include -fPIC -D_GNU_SOURCE -DAUTOFS_MAP_DIR=\"/etc\" -DAUTOFS_CONF_DIR=\"/etc/sysconfig\" -c defaults.c

Hi,

Quote:

../include/lookup_ldap.h:4:18: fatal error: ldap.h: No such file or directory
Looking at the error that is thrown it seems you decided to build automakefs with the optional ldap dependency. Is ldap installed?

Another possibility: Did you implement all the patches correctly (78 of them, 7 are ldap related...)?

Hope this helps.

I patched, configured it, and maked it using the command from the book.

Code:

for f in `cat ../patch_order-5.0.5`; do
  patch -Np1 -i ../$f
done &&
./configure --prefix=/ --mandir=/usr/share/man &&
make

I will install OpenLDAP-2.4.23 and see if that helps. I didn't think I would need it because its under "Optional".

I'll assume the above worked and did not throw any errors.

Did the commands earlier in the book (Additional Downloads) give you any problems?

If you did not explicitly tell autofs to include ldap, autofs should not build it.

Hope this helps.

BTW: You did check the kernel options to verify that automounter support is enabled?

I really don't know what its trying to do. Its not listening to me at all. I went to configure ldap and it said, MySQL config not found, but it says right in the command, --disbale-sql. So now im making MySQL and trying to fix all of this. I told Autofs nothing about ldap.

Then you should stop trying to install ldap and mysql and fix the problem. It seems that both autofs and ldap are looking for optional dependencies which you did not specify. I'm not sure (yet) what it is you are doing wrong, but something must be off.

If I where you I would remove the source directories (autofs, mysql and ldap) and start fresh with the autofs chapter.

How about my other questions?

I would like to note... before I went on trying all of this, I tried Autofs about 5 times. When it would fail in the make process, I would delete it and the patches and start fresh from the top. MySQL did fix the one error in ldap but then I got another one. Im just going to delete the whole project and move to the CLFS book. I will call this a learning experience and hope for the best next time. My linux is going to be called Xing, so why not make it a cross lfs.

Also: Im about 80% sure that I gave the kernel support for it.

I have the same issue - immediately post LFS SVN 20110605 build. It seems to be a problem with the autofs patches - I am investigating it now.
