On the other side there is a fellow that does exactly that, I don't have a link at the moment but it's a downloadable lfs distro:rolleyes: completely defeats the purpose of lfs...

I want to know too. It takes too long to install lfs and startx doesn't work, get some sort of not found error ;)

What exactly is not found? "some sort of not found error" isn't very informative. I suggest you start a thread in the LFS sub-forum giving the precise error message and maybe we can find out what you forgot to install.

The time spent doesn't bother me at all. I think it would do so more if I did the recommended thing and installed the basic LFS in one or two sessions; they would be rather long sessions, I think. But I do a little bit at a time between other tasks and it's just like doodling.

One way to speed things up is to use scripts rather than building by hand. There's a thing called ALFS (automated LFS) which does just that. You can read up about it on the LFS site. Or you could install AryaLinux, which is basically ALFS by another name. But asking for LFS binaries to install really does suggest a basic dimness.

@hazel, I'm pretty sure that post #4 was meant to be sarcastic. Especially since the edit which added a winking smiley. @colorpurple21859 correct me if I'm wrong.

Not true! Startx is part of the xinit package, which is installed in the Xorg chapter of BLFS.

Oh! I see, he's being sarcastic again. Basic LFS doesn't include X. I'm too naive for this forum.
