$XORG_PREFIX/share/X11/xkb does not exist
Hi, I'm having trouble getting Xorg to start. I get the following whenever I try to start it:
Code:
X.Org X Server 1.11.2
Release Date: 2011-11-04
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0
Build Operating System: Linux 3.2.6 i686
Current Operating System: Linux jacklfs 3.2.6 #1 SMP Wed May 30 14:46:12 CDT 2012 i686
Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-3.2.6-lfs-7.1 root=/dev/sda2 ro
Build Date: 30 May 2012 01:07:02PM
Current version of pixman: 0.24.4
Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org
to make sure that you have the latest version.

XKB: Failed to compile keymap
Keyboard initialization failed. This could be a missing or incorrect setup of xkeyboard-config.
Fatal server error:
Failed to activate core devices.
Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support
at http://wiki.x.org
for help.
Please also check the log file at "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" for additional information.
Server terminated with error (1). Closing log file.
xinit: giving up
xinit: unable to connect to X server: Connection refused
xinit: unexpected signal 2
xauth: (argv):1: bad display name "jacklfs:0" in "remove" command
Upon further inspection, the directory /opt/X11/share/X11/xkb/ doesn't exist. My $XORG_PREFIX is /opt/X11. I've installed all of the xorg-apps, and then reinstalled all of the ones with xkb in their names (in the order specified in the wget-list).
Does anybody have any idea?

Hi
Did you happen to miss the XKeyboardConfig out,
Just out of curiosity maybe check /usr/share/X11/xkb see if thats there.

I did not miss Xkeyboardconfig, I made sure that it was compiled and I rebuilt it several times. The directory /usr/share/X11 doesn't exist, and when I run
Code:
find / -type d -name '*xkb*'
I notice that /var/lib/xkb exists, but that's about it. All that's in /var/lib/xkb, btw, is a file named README.compiled.

Hi
You have opt/X11 as prefix why not "opt" as prefix could this of got confused somewhere along the build.
As I see it $XORG_PREFIX/share/X11/xkb comes from XKeyboardconfig
What is the ouput Also did you do the Introduction to Xorg-7.6-2 2nd part
"If you've decided to use the standard /usr prefix, you can omit the remainder of this page. Otherwise, be sure to add $XORG_PREFIX/bin to your PATH environment variable, and $XORG_PREFIX/lib/pkgconfig and $XORG_PREFIX/share/pkgconfig to your PKG_CONFIG_PATH variable. Issue the following commands as the root user: "
