X config remcomemdnations

Good morning,

I’m looking for suggestions or recommendations to help a customer of mine with the following requirements.

Customer running a J2EE app on Tomcat 5.00.28 and RedHat AS 3.0 in a headless configuration. The application attempts to generate a graph using Kava Charts, but fails to display an images when the X station used in the for display is turned off. For example, a remote user logs in starting Tomcat, specifies the display setting, etc. The remote user logs off which means the X session no longer exists.

The question, how do we ensure a X session always remains running so Kava Charts can generate the graph? How do companies running in lights out data centers accomplish the task?

Thanks,
Rich
