why locate command is not working?


Friends,

when i try
$ locate response | less

what i have to do now?

As root run: /usr/bin/updatedb

You'll probably want to enable the cron job for updatedb so that it runs on a daily basis.

Find /etc/updatedb.conf

To enable the updatedb in cron, set DAILY_UPDATE to yes
