using uucp to connect Redhat Enterprise to Unix and get file not found
 

When using Redhat Enterprise and Connecting with an RS232 cable, when you try to log into an SCO machine using cu and you use the username and password for uucp you get shere=hostname and it just locks up there.

If you issue the uucp command from the Redhat box to copy to the SCO Unix box the file will copy to the Unix box from the REdhat machine, but if you try to copy a file from the Sco Unix box to the Redhat box it tells you that the file is not found. On the Sco Unix box the /usr/spool/uucppublic directory is linked to the /var/spool/uucppublic directory, this uucp command to copy the file from the SCO unix box to the linux box is also from the Redhat machine.

I have tried changing the path, issuing the uucp with /var/spool/uucppublic and /usr/spool/uucppublic even thought the file I am trying to copy from the SCO Unix machine is in this directory it tells me that the file is not found.
The file has read write permissions for all and is owned by uucp and the group is uucp. The uucppublic directory is owned also by uucp and the permissions are full for everyone.

I have check all my files in the /etc/uucp directory on the Redhat machine and they all look fine. I have compared them to ones that I have found on the internet through a google search.

I have also checked my /usr/lib/uucp/Permissions file and it also looks fine.

I have also looked on the SCO site for anything dealing with uucp but I have been unable to find anything that will help.

Any help or suggestions are greatly welcomed.
