Hi michelle,
as u seems like an absolute newbie, a detailed description is beyond the scoup of this message. You should study a bit before moving ahead, some sites may help you like www.linuxhomenetworking.com etc.
..
Regarding Servers... A server is only a service in Linux (or in other OS). So, you can have multiple services at the same point.

here is a link that show the step http://howtoforge.net
you can go to this site http://www.howtoforge.net
and click the link for centos on the up left corner. look for the link which say "howto setup a perfect server". you can copy and paste the exact code.
if you cannot do it yourself, I will be happy to help you set it up remotely.
enjoy the freedom of choice.
good luck

centos version 4 and RedHat enterprise 4 are the same thing. centos is a clone of redhat enterprise. the only difference is the logo. so does fedora.
you can read the howto create vhosts from apache website at:
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/vhosts/examples.html

Not really an answer, just to get this clear: are you sure you need complete virtual servers (of the V-server / FreeVPS kind) as opposed to "regular" Apache Vhosts? Maybe you could elaborate on what you're trying to do?

I keep asking you about this because in your original post (OP) you said you where looking into vserver because you would like to serve a website from this machine. For that you don't need a different machine nor a vserver setup: you can install all the necessary tools and run a website *right now*.

Next you create a "context" which is how they call a "virtual server". Since FreeVPS basically is Vserver you could read http://linux-vserver.org/Building_Guest_Systems and substitute the 'vserver' command for your 'vserver_ctl'. Note the doc mentions five ways to build a guest and I don't know if FreeVPS caters for it. Also note that Psoft recommends you install H-sphere to manage your FreeVPS (I think they got templates for building hosts as well).
