URGENT - EXT3-fs error

Hi,

I have RHEL AS4 running on the DELL PE2950.
I got following error on this server and it was not at all responding.
Then I did a powercycle through DRAC and it did automatic fsck and works fine now.
But will it occur again? How significant is this? Any ideas or any solutions to avoid this again?

EXT3-fs error (device dm-3) in start transaction: journal has aborted

Thanks,
Ajay

Me too

I have a Dell Optiplex GX240 which will run fine for about 30 minutes, then it goes unresponsive in X Windows. If I ctl-alt-f2 to the command line, it's throwing EXT3-fs error messages like crazy. If I shut down and then restart later (maybe after it cools?) it'll go through the same cycle. If I reboot right away I get a lot of I/O errors at boot and a failure.

I think it's a bad hard drive and I am hosed on this ol' machine.

New hard drive and OS reinstall cleared the EXT3-fs

I put in a new hard drive on the old Dell, reinstalled the OS and now it's happy.

I have it happen with HP 6402 SCSI controllers. I had to update the firmware on the controller to make the problem go away.
