i am using RHEL5.1 server, i am unable to get host display on my m/c using xterm -display myIP:0.0 , giving Xt error even when i executed xhost + on my machine. can any body help me.
procedure i followe is: step 1:-> run xhost + on my m/c step 2:-> GO TO HOST m/c run /usr/openwin/bin/xterm -display myipaddress:0.0 giving Xt error, but able to connect host m/c to some other Linux m/ |
Would you be so kind as to specify what the "Xt error" is?
What is an "m/c"? Has this ever worked? Do you have a similar system working? What's different? And why, pray tell, is this CAPITAL LETTERS "urgent"? |
m/c is short for machine. If I understand the scenario correctly, I think you'd just need to use VNC. Run vncserver on your machine and then connect to it from the host, you'll get a window with as many xterms as you want.
Or you could just use ssh. Some more clarity would definitely help. |

Are you using ssh? I think it should work, as X forwarding is easy to do. Can you post commands and responses/errors more clearly? If you are not able to get an answer here, also consider posting to centos5 forums, as centos is supposed to be 100% binary compatible with RHEL:
