Smile Ubuntu and MS active directory

Hello,

Just wonder has anyone managed to authenticate Ubuntu desktop 6.06 against Microsoft AD. I have installed Ubuntu on virtual machine I was impressed that it found my MS network showed all my Windows shares on 2003 server and after authentication I was able to access a share. The pain was that I had to authenticate for each share. I was also impressed with Evolution very strait forward setup and my email was connected and working with Exchange. This is the first Distribution where this worked out of the box I did not need to fiddle with samba etc…

So I was thinking is there an easy way to authenticate against Windows Active Directory so I do not need to type user name and password when accessing windows shares?

You should be able to use the gnome keychain manager to store your credentials.
Try "Connecting to Server" which mounts those shares. The keychain manager can
store you username and password.
