SUSE 10 Machine p2v'd, boots with: aiting for /dev/mapper/control to appear: failed
As the topic suggests,
Using Vmware converter..converted a SUSE 10 SP2 OS completed 100% successful (according to converter app)
VM boots, fails at:
Waiting for /dev/mapper/control to appear: failed
followed by several LVM lookup failures ( no volume group found )
Booting from a SUSE CD and into rescue mode, I can see the LVM's present
content of /dev/mapper from rescue reads:
Rescue:/dev/mapper # ls
control vg01-home vg01-opt vg01-root vg01-swap vg01-tmp vg01-usr vg01-var
Which accounts for all the logical volumes...
Curious if this is possibly an issue with the way the initial ramdisk (initrd) was redone during conversion?
Looking at the contents of the initrd I can see LVM module is included, so I do not suspect it is simply failing to read the LVM module on boot...
Could use some input/direction on this if possible... it's a head scratcher!
Thanks,
