start application/script at boot time


I want to know how to start/call an application/script to start during the boot process.

Anything that you put in /etc/rc.local will execute during startup.

Additionally, most versions of cron support a special @reboot syntax that will start the task when cron is started. Great for user-run processes.

start application/script at boot time

Thanks all for the help everyone. I successfully got it to work with rc.local as I thought, but was unsure of. Has anyone used the @reboot syntax in the cron? I have only run the cron as per usual against dates and times.
