sssd not returning secondary groups rhel 6.1

Have LDAP authentication working on RHEL 6.1, but I'm having problems with sssd returning the secondary groups. If I do a "getent group", the LDAP groups are all returned. However, when I do an "id <username>" only the primary group is listed for any given user. After looking through the forums, I tried adding "ldap_schema = rfc2307bis" to the sssd.conf but still get the same result. Not having this isue on RHEL 5.x, but of course I'm not using sssd on those machines. Any ideas?
