Sendmail problem in RHEL4

I have a sendmail client. When user sends any mail that mail arrives in local sendmail queue and is delivered to out remote SMTP server. And remote SMTP server takes care or final delivery of the mail.

But when user sends any mail the mail client gets freezed up for some time till it makes a connection with remote SMTP server and then it allows user to send that mail to local sendmail queue and user mailclient software is usable again.

I want to disable this feature, user should be able to send mail to local server's queue immediately. He should not wait till sendmail makes a connection with remote SMTP server.

I am using Sendmail 8.13.1 with RedHat Enterprise server 4.

PLease guide me to solve this problem.

Thanks.
