scan rate monitoring

hello ,

As UNIX user, I was used to monitor the cpu Wait I/O and memory scan rate.

does anyone can help what can I do in LINUX?

Sorry, can't understand what you mean by "does anyone can help what can I do in LINUX?" What are you asking?

There are many CPU monitoring tools for any version of Linux...some GUI based, some text. Explain what you need, and write clearly...tell us what version/distro of Linux, too.

sorry if my question is not clear,
I am trying to monitor the MEMORY consumption on a machine, I used FREE to get the used memory, but i also need to know the scan rate.
the linux edition is:
Enterprise Linux Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2 (Carthage)
