We've been running RHEL here at work for a while now and I've just built a VM to serve as a network install/kickstart/local repository for our LAN.
The only piece I'm missing now is the updates. It doesn't seem like Red Hat has their current updates available for download outside of RHN. Is this true? Is there a way to get the updates and save them locally in a repository for other servers to update from?
I've seen that Red Hat has what they call a RHN Satellite Server that you can purchase for 13,000 or something like that. Thanks in advance!
An unofficial way to do it would be to turn on the yum cache of one server so it saves all the RPMs as it installs them. You can then make your own repository using those files and do updates from that repository.
Otherwise you have to download the files one at a time which is a major pain.
We use RHN Satellite server, I do recommend it for a large enterprise solution. Satellite seriously makes administering all of your linux servers a breeze.
