I am having a problem on a RHEL3 U8 box. This is an HP server running Oracle, and I've just updated the kernel and other erratta from U6 to U8. I did this on the test server first, and all is well there. Almost all went well on the production box too, except that I'm having a wierd problem with our serial console redirection tool we use. Basically, we are using Tivoli Storage Manager for backups, and we set up /dev/ttyS0 as console on the kernel. But over my redirected console, I can see the boot process until it gets to our Tivoli startup scripts. The server continues booting properly, and TSM even loads and is doig it's backups. But my serial console is still showing the tsm script loading, and I can't get it to update at all. echo test > /dev/console or echo test > /dev/ttyS0 doesn't even return me to the command prompt ever, so it's got to be something with the console devices. I just can't quite put my finger on it. Can anyone give me any clues?
