Remote desktop question
 

I'm setting up a lab with 12 workstations running rhel5. A 13th rhel5 system will be connected to multiple display devices. I want the 13th system to be able to remote desktop to any of the 12 workstations regardless of which user is logged in. This is not some type of stealth or spy attempt. The lecturer wants to be able to show the work of the student on the workstation via the projector or large screen TV.

So basically what I'm looking for is a way to setup all 12 systems to do the following regardless of which user is logged in:

- Allow others to view and control the Desktop
- NOT ask for user confirmation
- Require a password

Basically, what you see in the attached image dialogue but without the GUI interface.

There has got to be an easy way to do this but I'm just not seeing it....

I'm pretty sure VNC can be configured to work that way. But I don't know the details of configuring it.

I'm sure there is some text file where the results of that GUI are stored. Possible some VNC documentation may tell you where the text file is. Or maybe you need some more brute force method of determining which files are modified by running the GUI.

Once you know which text file stores the setting, you could bulk change that for all users. Or you could put something in a login script to change it for the current user. Or maybe there is a shared text file that can control it for all users.
