redhat ES and active directory, when not able to modify AD systems

Hey all...we have a pool of redhat ES systems in a Windows Active Directory environment. We want to take advantage of the AD system easing account management on our redhat systems. Googling around this morning it appears that to use AD on linux systems requires the installation of services on the AD domain controllers. Unfortunately, we do not have access to modify the AD systems in our environment.

Is anyone aware of any instructions on how to setup a linux system to passively use the AD infrastructure for user and group management on our linux environment?
