Question about moving/tar files in sles9

we had a bit of a problem early in the week where I've had to rebuild the root mdisk by hand. It is pretty much all there and working . Today I was putting back /var/run I used tar to bring the files over but when I looked at the untared file I was missing two files. These are.nscd_socket and .resmgr_socket They are pink/cyan maybe but be that as it may they didn't move.
What do I need to do to get those 2 files over??
thanks
Mace

I believe those sockets are created by their respective services when they start. Such as the resmgrd daemon which might for example change the username of /etc/cdrom when you log in. Try restarting the resmgr service and see if it is created.

I stopped the resmgr service, renamed the .resmgr_socket file to something else, and then started the resmgr service. A new .resmgr_socket file appeared.
