partition in RHEL 4.0

Hello. I hope this finds you well. I have downloaded a 30-day evaluation of AS 4.0 and am at the partitioning stage. I need to partition accordingly for Oracle 10g. Oracle has given me the specs but I need a few more details. If you could help me I would surely appreciate it. I have gone through all the documentation/knowledgebase and googled but could not find specific enough information. I hope I am no bother.
I have a 40GB HD, IGB RAM.
Following are the file system specs Oracle sent me:
root - mounted on / - size 2GB
usr - mounted on /usr - size 6GB
var - mounted on /var - size 1GB
tmp - mounted on /tmp - size 2GB
oracle - mounted on /oracle - size 24GB
swap - mounted on (did not specify) - size 2GB

1) Which of these should go in LVM and which should go in Hard Drives?

2) When I tried to create root i got the following error> could not allocate requested partitions: Partitioning failed. Why is that?

3) Should any of the partitions in the above Oracle specs be Primary partitions?

Again, any help is surely appreciated. Thank you for your time and knowledge. Best regards... Addison

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
