My Redhat Linux box won't boot up

Hello,

My RedHat linux box (IBM x356) will not boot up unless i remove the fiber channel cable connected to the machine.
Currently i have the box connected to our SAN infrastrure, using two single port qlogic FC cards to NetApp disk storage.
Each time i try to reboot the system, it gives a "run fsck on the sda3" which is the / partition on the boot disk.
But the system will boot up without any errors when i disconnect the FC cables from the machine.

What could be wrong?

I need your help

Regards

Does it not start updating at all, or does it get stuck mounting a remote partition?

If there are entries for it in /etc/fstab, look at the filesystem and read through the "man mount" and possibly a file in the kernel source. You may have an option like _netdev you should use.

Also, maybe you need a driver supplied with initrd.

Wink

check /etc/modprobe.conf or /etc/modules.conf and see the order in which the HBA modules are loaded . The SCSI/RAID hba modules should be loaded before the FC modules. If yes fix this and make initrd again.
