Mapped Drive Time out

Hello Everyone,

I apologize if this has been answered ahead of time, I looked at some of the posts and didn't see an answer, so I am posting it here. I have SuSE Enterprise Server 9 with Samba activated and working. I have mapped drives on my Windows XP box to the Linux server. The problem occurs when I go to access those mapped drives. There appears to be what seems like an authentication time out. After an undetermined amount of time if I click the drive it waits for 45-60 seconds, and then displays the files and folders needed. After a short amount of time not being used, should I decide to access it again, the same thing happens all over again. I wondered if anyone had a fix, or something to try. Thank you in advance for any help anyone has.

Also is there a way to "map" drives from a linux server to a linux client? relatively new to Linux, but willing to learn, to rid myself of Redmond!
