Kernel Update


I am using Fedora 4 . I want to update my kernel 2.6 . How can i do this easyly

Fedora 4 is ancient. The latest version is 9, and I doubt that there is a repository update to get you to 2.6 kernel.

The easiest way would be for you to do a fresh install of FC9.

The easiest way is to download the latest stable version of the source from kernel.org and build it.

I did it for my Fedora Core 4 box last summer, and it was fairly straightforward. The only problem I had was that GCC ran out of memory, and I had to take a stick of RAM out of another machine and put it in the FC4 box while I built the kernel. Afterward, I put the RAM back, and everything worked great.
