Turn off ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface). Latest distributions of Linux have kernel with ACPI good. Earlier versions had enough ACPI trouble to offer ACPI off during installations. You should find option to set ACPI off for install.
After system is updated to current kernel, ACPI may help adn work well.

My system has Intel T2700, Intel 945 glue & video. Only some ports are not Intel. ACPI is installed but not running. Notebook is quiet & cool, so ACPI is not needed.
