How to update a CNAME record


Hi

How can i update a CNAME record in DNS ? The OS is
# uname -a
FreeBSD meea.zamo.com 4.4-STABLE-011008 FreeBSD 4.4-STABLE-011008 #2: Tue Nov 1:43:51 IST 2002

The bind version is 9

Open the appropriate forward zone and change where the cname references... you'll have a line like:

Code:
hostname            IN CNAME fred.domain.tld
Change that to be whatever you want the cname to point to, increment the serial numbers, and restart the daemon.

you open the zone file and change it, then increment the serial number if required.

wouldn't you need the dot at the end?

hostname            IN CNAME fred.domain.tld.
