Google Configuration

Just out of curiousity, is anyone aware of Google's server configuration? I know for sure that they are using Red Hat, but does anyone have any other facts (with sources )? For example, is the clustering dependent on the OS or is it purely application level such as Oracle RAC? Is this a good example of how linux can scale up? If the clustering is purely application level, I fail to see how this can be an example of linux scaling up since you could do the same with Windows although it would be undoubtedly more expensive. Thanks for your time.

I don't have any sourced to back this up... but i can guarantee you that they are using massive hardware clustering... something like Penguin Computing in a massive Beowulf or something...

They have their own custom versions of software to run their applications.
