enterprise 4 boot problem

I have installed Redhat Linux Enterprise 4 and it work fine with me, but after i installed windows2003 i got my grub boot corrupted. i thought it's gonna be easy fixing it, but when i booted into the rescue mode using the 1st Cd and followed the normal procedures. after i reached to the shell i gave the followin command:
>chroot /mnt/sysimage
there was no prob with it.
>fdisk -l
i found that my linux is installed under /dev/hda7
>grub-install /dev/hda
******here it hangs without any response..
i checked :
>e3label /dev/hda7
and i got /1 then i found it's the same in /etc/fstab and there is no problem with that.
so i think the problem with grub and i do't know how to fix it.
i hope i can get a response to get my linux working.
thanks.
