emc powerpath problem

Hi to all,

I am using RHEL-4, kernel 2.6.9-5.EL which is connected to EMc CX300.Storage groups and LUNs are properly defined in Storage. When i try to install PowerPath in Linux, following error appeared:

PowerPath could not load module emcp
error: %post(EMCpower.LINUX-4.5.1-022.i386) scriptlet failed, exit status 1

And when i run dmesg command:

end_request: I/O error, dev sdb, sector 0
end_request: I/O error, dev sdc, sector 0
end_request: I/O error, dev sdd, sector 0
end_request: I/O error, dev sde, sector 0

I'm not sure Emulex is supported. In all the documentation I have for 4.3 PowerPath on Linux it talks about Qlogic which is what we have.

In testing I did at the end of last year there was a point where I had an Emulex card and we pulled that in favor of Qlogic but I don't recall why. (That is to say it may have been OK but we changed it because we wanted the test to use the same cards as Production or it may not have worked at all.)

Also docs say to stop naviagent before installing PowerPath. Did you do that?

Finally doc tells you how to configure the emcp module for your specific hba (or at least check it) have you gone through that?
