Disk I/O stats (iotop alternative?)

Hello,

I am in need of an application that will display the currently Disk I/O usage. I've looked at iotop which is really appealing but the kernel we have is 2.6 and iotop requires 2.6. We're not really in the position to update the kernal for one monitoring tool. I've also checked out sar and sadc but I'm looking for something that can be invoked only when it is needed and then it's gone until next time.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 3 (Taroon Update 5)

I am grateful for any available assistance.

Thank you,
Omnivir
