Disk /dev/sdb doesn't contain a valid partition table

I have installed a new SAN disk, formatted the newly added device /dev/sdb and mounted successfully. I can read and write files to this new mount point.

However, when I type fdisk -l, it shows me that the following:

Disk /dev/sdb: 107.3 GB, 107372544000 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 13053 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Disk /dev/sdb doesn't contain a valid partition table

I wonder if there will be any problem for using this newly installed SAN disk? Or, I can ignore this message?

Actually, no, it could give you trouble later. But the second post in the thread I referred to contained a quick fix for the problem if, indeed, you didn't create any partitions like the OP in that thread.

ive had a thumb drive partitioned that way for a long time... It works fine.. but I personally would be annoyed by that that I would reformat to have the appropriate /dev/sdb1 partition setup.
