crond monthy

Hi
I had setup some cron jobs into /etc/cron/monthly and they are not executing. Did i need to write any line to
crontab -e
. my crontab -l looks plain, nothing was there. Please tell me , will i need to include a entry to "crontab -e " to link /etc/cron/monthly.
Thanks in advance.

I guess it's a typo. The correct directory is /etc/cron.monthly.
If the scripts you put in /etc/cron.monthly are not executing, make sure that crond is running. You should also take a look in /etc/crontab to see if the respective entry exists or it's commented out. There should be something like:
Code:
 ..
mm hh dd * * root run-parts /etc/cron.monthly
..
As a last resort, you can use crontab -e to create an entry like the above in your crontab, or make a cronjob that runs directly your scripts once a month.
