Configuring LVM using disks on separate servers
 
Hi all,

I got a disk free space of around 32GB in my server B. I have a LV running on my server A.

Is there a way to utilize that 32GB with the existing lv parition of A , using lvextend.

What are all the things I need to do that?

Hi,

In short, no.

Or maybe you can using something which will show your 32GB as a network disk (SAN/NAS). Then I suppose that you can add it to an existing LVM but I really wouldn't recommend it.

+1 - I keep SAN disk in different VGs from local disks. I had a problem where both of them were in the same VG, but since at boot time they load in different order, LVM would complain that the VG is bad and boot failed.
