apache 2, php 5 and mysql 5 install and configure
hi all!
i am trying to build a website which accesses a database... i am running mandriva 2005 LE... i have decided after a bit of reading that apache 2, php 5 and mysql 5 will be ideal.
the problem in mandriva is that i can get all of the components ie apache php and mysql in the versions i want but when i try to install php 5 using Mandrake Control Centre (MCC) it needs to install mysql 4... i need to use mysql 5 for the newer features is has... mysql 4 is not an option.
i have already installed apache 2 and mysql 5 using MCC... i have downloaded php 5 source code from the php site... i am pretty new to this so i guess i'll need some help here... dont want to mess it up just yet. all the sites i have searched i found instructions to install php5 with mysql 4.
can somebody help me out to install php 5 from source code properly so that i can configure it to work with apache 2 and mysql5? even a link to a how to or tutorial will be fine...
thanks a mill
