need suggestion to install embedded OS on a IPTV box

hello

I've a IPTV set top box called Tvpad2. it's a streaming device primarily for watching East Asian TV programs. the services recently got shut down and now it's lost its primary function.

I played around with the box and had gained root access. it seems that it runs on busybox. but GUI interface resembles android. it has 377MB Ram, ARMv7 processor, TCC8920 chipset, 4G onboard eMMC NAND storage, and microSD slot, usb port, and hdmi output. i'd like to know whether it's possible to install an embedded Linux OS onto it.

It already is running an embedded version of Linux. You say you obtained root access, therefore aren't you at a terminal prompt already? Type "uname -a"

You should learn how to use google.
This is an old article, but indicates that there has been support albeit not in mainline.

You need to open the enclosure, and find the serial port for the console (assuming that it has one). It is typically four 2.0mm-spaced pins or just through-holes. If there is no connection available, then that board will be rather difficult to hack.

Sorry I'm new to this site and just found this thread.

I've got this box too and opened it up and took a photo. If someone can contact me I can send a photo and I'd like to know if they could indicate whether the board has a serial port please.

Cheers

I think you have a similar post in a different forum. Let's see if some folks answer there. Please only post in one forum.

@BlahBlahBlahBoy

You have other thread; https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ed-4175621721/

No reason to resurrect a necro thread. You should work within that original thread to keep things simple and not confusing.
