Linux for PowerPC

hi,
For one of my new embedded project, i have to use linux with powerPC (MPC 8280). I am currently having Red hat Linux enterprise edition 4 installed in an pentium desktop.

Please provide me following clarifications

1.Can i use this RHEL 4 with PowerPC. ?
2. Is there anything called Embedded LInux Customized for PowerPC?
3. How to install the Linux into the Flash memory used in my
PowerPC board?

I am using GREEENHILLS IDE for PowerPC 8280

Please help me by giving your valuable suggestions.

Thanks in advance..

I have never looked into embedded systems, but I'd think RHEL4 is not particularly useful. Can you access the flash memory as a drive? Maybe you can use Linux from scratch: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/

If this is embedded as in PDA or mobile, have you checked out what limo can offer? http://linuxmobile.sourceforge.net/

i know fedora core has ppc versions.

consider using yellowdog. it is built with ppc as a target.
