Linux for Nios II, Cyclone III edition
I am looking for a Linux distro for Altera's Nios II Cyclone III edition. The fellows at Altera point to uCLinux, but I couldn't find a version for the Cyclone III edition.
Does anybody know of a distro that would work well for this processor? How hard would it be to download the source code (for embedded Debian, say) and compile it for my architecture? Thanks!! |
uCLinux
You can download a demo design of uCLinux running on the Nios II Embedded Eval Kit, Cyclone III Edition from SLS Corp.

Great, thanks!
To answer some of my other questions (in case somebody else needs help on this someday), it is not possible to simply use a generic linux distribution for the Nios processor. Nios does not support the use of a MMU, so a specialized system (that does not need a MMU) is required. I've heard rumors that the new Nios 8.0 supports a MMU, but I haven't seen this for myself. |
