Unhappy I can't change files because the device tell me "read only system" Help!! please

Hi,

I am trying to change some parameter in a lighttpd server Where it was installed in a Codec Device.

I can connect to it by Telnet and I am root user but there are some files that they are only for Read.

I have tryed change the permission with chmod but the system tell me that the system is only for Read.

I have tryed mount the unit with this command

mount -o remount,rw /dev/root /

but I have not one solution.

Also I have tryed change fstab but when I reboot the system, the old fstab is running again. (I don't know if I need to change the boot)

This is my system.

root@ipcam:/# df
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/root 57584 57584 0 100% /
tmpfs 69064 10520 58544 15% /tmp
tmpfs 69064 928 68136 1% /var
/dev/root 57584 57584 0 100% /dev/.static/dev
tmpfs 10240 36 10204 0% /dev
/dev/mtdpart/database_block
8192 632 7560 8% /mnt/db
/dev/mtdpart/rwfs_block
61440 1964 59476 3% /mnt/rwfs
/dev/mtdpart/userfs_block
32768 1032 31736 3% /mnt/userfs
tmpfs 10240 380 9860 4% /mnt/ramdisk
/dev/mtdpart/rfs_block
1024 388 636 38% /tmp/rfs

I don't know if somebody can help me,

Thanks!!!!!

Regards.

Then post

/etc/fstab

If changing fstab does not work, you should use a live cd, mount the root partition and change fstab.

Live cd: https://www.gentoo.org/downloads/

thanks for the soon answer.

I have tryed with fstab but I haven't solutioned the problem.

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
/dev/root / auto defaults,errors=remount-ro 0 0
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
none /var/run tmpfs defaults 0 0
none /tmp tmpfs sync 0 0

this is the old and I have change for this one (this file I can change it, but when the device is rebooted, I think that the boot replace it.)

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
/dev/root / auto defaults 0 0
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
none /var/run tmpfs defaults 0 0
none /tmp tmpfs sync 0 0

Also I can see that the place of fstab is in /etc/fstab and it is a symlink to /var/config/fstab.

I can use one live cd becouse it isn't a computer. It is a little device with Linux and I can't use another primary OS for change some files.

I don't know if is possible try to send files by ftp when the device reboot itself.

A lot of thanks.

Regards
